Use the Amazon affiliate program without a website – possible?

In this article, I would like to go into whether you can use the Amazon affiliate program without a website

As an affiliate, you face many challenges at the beginning. Above all, at some point, you have to decide which affiliate program you want to use for your project.

And this is where the difficulty arises!

Because many affiliate networks expect you to enter an existing website when registering!

Exactly here, the same questions arise again and again:

· What if you don’t have a website?

· Can you use the Amazon affiliate program without a website?

· What can you specify if you don’t have a website yet?

· Can the affiliate program only be used for YouTube or social media?

1) The Amazon Affiliate Program

2) But what if you can’t specify a website?

3) How is it checked and why can the Amazon application be rejected?

4) Recommendation – Use the affiliate program without a website

5) In summary

The Amazon Affiliate Program’s affiliate program is one of the largest in the world. According to Amazon, you can use the affiliate program as a “content creator, blogger or publisher.” Which is a pretty vague statement and can include a lot.

This does not answer whether you also have a chance of being accepted as an Instagram marketer, for example. The Amazon Influencer program has been around for some time; more on that later in the text…

The official website states that if you can provide an “eligible website or mobile app,” you qualify for the affiliate program.

So you need a website or app, which you have to specify in the application…

But what if you can’t specify a website?

It is logical that you do not have your own website at the beginning of your path as an affiliate marketer.

What do you do then? Is it even possible to sign up for the Amazon affiliate program?

Basically, you should first differentiate whether you want to use the partner program via a website/app or social media . The Amazon Influencer program is available for YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

This is where Amazon looks at the number of followers and engagement metrics. If you are accepted, you can create your store with your URL.

But even if you are not an influencer, you can enter your Facebook ID or Instagram page as the website URL!

However, you have to meet a few criteria, which Amazon describes as follows:

“Your application must clearly list your accounts and groups (not just the social network URL). Your social network or group account/profile must have an appropriate number of organic followers/likes (at least 500 in most cases).”

You can answer whether you can use the Amazon affiliate program without a website with YES, namely, if you are an influencer or have a social media profile/group with more than 500 followers.

But in most cases the fundamental problem remains: you don’t have a website or a lot of followers . So further on in the text.

How is it checked and why can the Amazon application be rejected?

Amazon understandably reserves the right to reject applications. Only those who follow the guidelines will be accepted by Amazon.

According to their own statements , each registration is checked manually within 12-24 hours.

This is somewhat at odds with what is stated on the following page: Application review process . It says: “Once qualifying purchases have been made through your affiliate ID (we require a minimum of 3 qualifying purchases within the first 180 days), our team will review your application. “

From my own experience, however, I know that you are always accepted directly at first, so I tend to believe that a check will take place after the 3 sales.

In any case, there seems to be a review either way.

The affiliate program policies state:

“We will determine suitability for any site in our sole discretion.”

As soon as you are accepted, there may also be a subsequent review or blocking. Especially if you violate the guidelines. There may also be a permanent ban.

During the registration you will get a few hints about the information. Incidentally, it says here that the information will be checked after the first referral. So another statement

In addition, the account will be closed if there is no sale/referral within 180 days. However, you can log in again afterwards.

Recommendation – Use the affiliate program without a website

Yes, it is possible to sign up for the Amazon affiliate program without a website, but most of the time it doesn’t make sense!

Because as soon as there is a review after the first sales, you either need a certain number of followers or a correct website that meets all the criteria.

Accordingly, your information will definitely be checked at some point! Also, if you don’t generate a sale in the first 180 days, you’ll have to go through the process again anyway, which is of course very annoying!

I know from other affiliates that they just sign up with a Facebook page (without any likes) and get approved. Once accepted, you can add new websites/projects to your account at any time.

If you really have the master plan and you know that you will comply with all guidelines in a short time anyway and you have a website or fan base, then you can also register early. However, this is dangerous and honestly not recommended.

The statements of other Amazon affiliate program users who are talking about this in the (in)official forum (now taken offline) are very interesting.

My recommendation:

First create your website/app or build a fan base on social media.

Only then should you apply for the Amazon affiliate program. So you are on the safe side!

Everything else is just a workaround, which in the worst case can lead to you being banned.

And above all, you should ask yourself: Why would you want to register if you don’t have your own platform on which you can and are allowed to do affiliate marketing?!

in summary

Yes, you can register without a website, for example with your social media channels. You need at least 500 followers or likes on your pages. In addition, the profile must be publicly accessible.

No, you cannot register with a non-existent or made-up website. Also, you shouldn’t log in with a website that’s in “maintenance.”
