Google Adsense: Earn money with your homepage

Even if you run a private homepage, you can earn money with your website. This is made possible by advertising partners who display advertisements on your homepage. For each click on the ad or each sales contract concluded through it – for example, for a magazine subscription – you receive a small commission. You only get a few cents per click, but according to the motto “Every little bit helps,” this can add up to a few euros per month. Very well visited websites even bring it to several hundred, sometimes even over a thousand euros per month.

Even if you run a private homepage, you can earn money with your website.

This is made possible by advertising partners who display advertisements on your homepage. For every click on the ad or for every sales contract concluded â, for example, for a magazine subscription â, you receive a small commission. There are only a few cents per click, but according to the motto “Every little bit helps,” this can add up to a few euros per month. Very well visited websites even bring it to several hundred, sometimes even over a thousand euros per month.

Your site’s revenue potential can be easily estimated with a simple formula. Well-placed advertising brings approximately between 50 cents and 2 euros per thousand visitors. A homepage with 10,000-page impressions per month will earn between 5 and 20 Euros; with 300,000 images, it will be 150 to 600 Euros.

Install Google AdSense

Google AdSense, an offshoot of the search engine operator Google, is particularly successful in marketing advertising. The basic principle is simple: You add a piece of HTML code to your homepage, and Google AdSense does the rest. An advertising block now appears automatically on your homepage. Google AdSense decides which advertisements are displayed, how often, and in which form. It analyzes the content of your website and displays only the advertising that fits thematically to the respective page. For example, in the case of a homepage about the Canadian wilderness, these are offers from travel agencies, photo outfitters, or outdoor specialists.

The installation of the automatically generated ads is done in a few minutes.

To install Google AdSense advertising, you first need a user account at Google AdSense. Go to the website adsense.google.com (without www.) and click Sign up now.

Follow the instructions of the installation wizard to complete the account setup.

Sign in to AdSense with your Google user credentials. Click AdSense Setup to create a new ad space. Click AdSense for content pages. In the next window, enable the Ad Unit option and click Next.

In the Format field, select the desired size of the ad unit. A vertical 120 x 600 skyscraper ad for the navigation area is recommended. For advertising within the text articles, you should choose a horizontal format, for example, 468 x 60 banners.

In the Colors field, you can set the visual design of the advertising area. Here you should follow the colors of your website and use, for example, the exact text and background colors as on your homepage.

In the next window, you can define so-called channels. The channel names will allow you to see exactly how successful the individual advertising spaces are. Click on Add new channel and enter your blog title and the placement as channel name, for example, Canada Blog Navigation.

You will find the HTML promotion code that you need to include in your blog or website on the next page. Copy the promotional code by clicking once on the code area to highlight all the lines. Now right (!), click on the highlight and select the Copy command. This copies the HTML code to the Windows clipboard.

The next step is to paste the copied code into the HTML source code of your web page. How to do this is explained above in the Install Gimmicks section. Paste the code wherever you want the ad block to appear later, e.g., on the left side of the navigation column.

For WordPress blogs, add the code via the Theme Editor. Switch to the Theme Editor (Themes | Theme Editor) from the configuration interface and open the Sidebar file, for example, to add the ad-block to the right navigation column.

Once the ads are inserted, you only need enough internet users to visit your website. Practice shows that about 0.5 to 2 percent of visitors click on the offered advertising space. How much revenue have you generated with your website in the last few days? You can find out in the member area of Google AdSense under reports. You can see exactly how often your ads have been displayed and clicked and how much you have already earned. The payment of the proceeds begins as soon as you have exceeded the 100 US dollars. For tiny and young websites, this may take a few months.

Keep in mind that you will automatically be classified as a commercial website if you add ads to your website.

Never click on the ads on your homepage yourself. Google AdSense detects this click fraud very quickly and immediately terminates the advertising contract with you and stops the payment.
