6 SEO Tips To Promote Your Website In Less Than An Hour

You’ve created a fantastic website, congratulations! Now attract traffic with strategies to optimize your SEO. What is SEO positioning? We all know that the king of search engines is Google, and to attract traffic to your website, you will want to appear in the first results when someone does a related search; we call this organic positioning or SEO positioning.

Many people try to escape the world of SEO because they think it is not very easy, but we have good news: improving your ranking on Google is easier than it seems! The first step is to use the right SEO tools, which will take you to step by step through optimizing your website’s ranking.

There are a lot of websites on the web today, and there is no guarantee that your site will rank first on Google, but there are several small things you can do to improve your organic ranking. This guide will show you five tips that you can implement in less than an hour (or even less!) that will help you optimize your website’s SEO ranking.

01. Choose the correct Domain (or URL).

Before your page is published, you have to choose its domain name (also known as URL). A domain is an address that your users will type into their browser to find your site. Like the sign that says the name of your store in a store window, this is the same thing. It’s the first thing they see when they enter your website, and so does Google; your domain tells Google what your website is about and how to rank it.

With this in mind, both the domain of your page and the subsequent URLs you create must be “clean.” It should not include special characters, symbols, or page identifiers.

02. Create titles and descriptions for each page.

Did you know that you could write unique titles and descriptions for each page within your site? These are short and clear texts that describe what your business does, using keywords for search engines.

Have you ever hovered your cursor over any of the tabs on your web page? The little phrase that appears is the name of the page. While the description is not visible to visitors, it is what tells search engines what the page is about and therefore improves SEO rankings. The title and description are among the characteristics that Google considers when evaluating your web page.

Apart from helping to optimize your SEO, once you are in the results, those who search for you will be able to read the description to know what your site is about and decide if they want to enter or not.

03. Use Anchor Text

While writing the text of your web page, consider that you should use anchors within your site. Anchor to where? No, it has nothing to do with navigation or ships. Anchor text is the text visitors can click on to be directed to another page, within your site, or outside.

Compelling anchor text should help your users navigate your web page and find what they are looking for. It should also include keywords and phrases related to what you do. For example, if you own a shoe store, the words might be: “Don’t miss our children’s shoe section” on your home page, with a link in the anchor text to ….. You guessed it! The section of your online store where you sell children’s shoes.

Anchor texts are a great way to increase your SEO, but keep in mind that making too many links or anchors that don’t serve or are not relevant to the content of your web page will get Google’s attention but not in the best way.

04. Add alternative text (Alt Text) to your images

Search engines, especially Google, are brilliant at understanding the text on a website, but they have not yet learned how to read pictures (until now!). Search engines read the so-called “Alt Text.”

What is Alt Text? It is a short description of what is shown in the photo. When writing the Alt Text, make sure you describe precisely what can be seen in the image, but also try to include the name of your business or other keywords related to it.

Another tip: You don’t need to write Alt Text for exclusively available images related to the design, such as the background image. If the image has nothing to do with the theme of your web page, you can skip this step.

05. Give structure to your web page with headings and subheadings

Every page within your website should have titles and subtitles. This helps when search engines scan your website, they can understand the content better if you use the correct hierarchy. The most important part is the title, and you should define it as such using H1 or T1 in the text editor.

The H1 should describe the page’s content, and there should only be one per page, so be sure to include the right keywords when writing your title! Once you have your H1, follow with H2 for section titles and H3 for subtitles. The clearer your content is, the easier it will be for search engines to understand.

06. Connect Your Website to Your Social Networks

Did you know that your social networks influence your position on Google? Being present and active on social networks, such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Youtube, is essential for improving your ranking. Sites that generate a lot of activity on social networks tend to appear in higher positions than those that do not.

When you create your website, you should include icons for each social network and link to them. You’ll also want to make sharing your content as easy as possible for your users. Using Wix, you can add a “Share” button to images on your page or items in your online store. Your traffic increases if your users share your content, and Google will notice.
